Moeve, a global sustainable energy and mobility company, operates six asphalt and construction products plants in Spain that manage a high volume of loading and unloading operations on a daily basis. These activities require transport operators to carry out multiple operational and administrative procedures, including document management, access control, weighbridge operations before and after loading, and other checks associated with the dispatch or receipt of goods.
A large part of these tasks has traditionally been performed manually, resulting in a significant administrative workload, long waiting times, and greater exposure to human errors arising from document handling and manual data entry.
With the aim of optimizing its entire logistics operation, Moeve entrusted Montrel with the development and implementation of a comprehensive digitalization solution that would automate the key loading and unloading processes, thereby reducing repetitive administrative tasks.
OUR WORK
Montrel was responsible for the complete design, development, and implementation of the digitalization solution for the logistics processes involved in loading and unloading tanker trucks at Moeve’s asphalt plants. The project included both the development of the software platform and the engineering, manufacturing, and installation of all hardware components required for its operation.
The solution developed by Montrel enables the digital and automated management of the entire operational cycle, from the vehicle’s arrival at the plant to its departure with all transport-related documentation. Key functionalities implemented include access control, automatic vehicle and driver identification, weighbridge integration for weighing operations, assignment of loading and unloading bays, digital execution of the safety controls and verifications required during the process, and automatic generation of the operational and legal documentation required.
As part of the project, Montrel designed and manufactured the operational kiosks used by drivers at various points throughout the facility. These units integrate touchscreens, QR code readers for trip identification, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, signaling systems, and industrial control hardware, all housed in structures specifically designed to operate reliably both indoors and under demanding outdoor environmental conditions.
The implementation included the installation of terminals at vehicle entry and exit points, as well as at the loading islands. Through these devices, drivers can independently and digitally complete all procedures associated with the operation, reducing waiting times and eliminating manual processes.
In addition, the platform integrates with Moeve’s technological ecosystem, including its SAP ERP system and corporate document management platform, enabling the automatic generation, storage, and distribution of documents such as delivery notes, certificates of analysis, and ADR transport documents. This documentation is made available digitally and is automatically sent to both the customer and the driver, ensuring full traceability of operations and eliminating paper-based document management.
This solution has been installed at the plants in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), Gijón, and Tarragona, and is planned to be extended to the remaining plants on the Iberian Peninsula: Valencia, La Rábida, and Alcudia.

ADDED VALUE
This project expands Montrel’s portfolio of proprietary solutions (G3C), incorporating a turnkey platform for the digitalization of processes in asphalt product storage and distribution facilities, combining software development, specialized hardware integration, and the manufacturing of physical equipment.
Other benefits associated with the initiative include:
- Elimination of manual processes in truck entry and exit control, reducing waiting times and operational human errors.
- Unique identification of vehicles entering the plant through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).
- The touchscreen interface intuitively guides the driver without requiring intervention from Moeve personnel, simplifying processes and improving plant safety.
- QR code identification ensures the integrity of the operation for a specific day and trip.
- Elimination of the need to issue paper-based internal documentation for tanker loading and unloading operations.
- Process automation reduces unnecessary personnel movements and optimizes operational times within the plant.
”The solution developed by Montrel makes it possible to manage the complete operational cycle in a digital and automated manner, from the vehicle's arrival at the plant to its departure with all the documentation associated with the transport.
