The second-generation (2G) biofuel plant by Moeve and BioOils in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) is the largest hub in southern Europe for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel (HVO).
With a capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year, it will double both companies’ production and make Huelva the second-largest European hub for renewable fuels. The investment totals €1.2 billion.
NUESTRO TRABAJO
Montrel is supporting the logistics of this large-scale plant by implementing a key operational system.
The contract includes designing, installing, and commissioning automation and control systems for loading and unloading tanker trucks. These trucks carry products used to produce clean fuels, such as used cooking oil and agricultural waste. This solution ensures efficient, safe, and traceable logistics operations.

VALOR AÑADIDO
‘Participating in this project reinforces Montrel’s leadership in automation solutions for industry, a field in which we have extensive experience both nationally and internationally. Our technology will be key to ensuring that this plant operates efficiently and safely, within a circular economy model that transforms waste into clean energy,’ said Manuel Díaz, Director of Systems at Montrel.
This project also consolidates the close commercial relationship between Montrel and Moeve, which already extends to several projects, and reinforces the presence of Andalusian engineering in the international 2G biofuels sector. These represent an immediate and efficient solution for reducing emissions, especially in a sector that is difficult to electrify, such as air transport.
