Montrel continues to win important contracts and in the coming months will carry out electrical and instrumentation installation works in the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley that Moeve is executing in Huelva. This is the most ambitious project in Europe to produce this clean fuel on a large scale, with the aim of leading the decarbonisation of industry and transport. The contract has been awarded by Maetel, a company of the Cobra group, integrated into the French group VINCI.
The Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, which has a total investment of more than €3 billion, includes in its initial phase the construction of a 405 MW electrolysis plant at the Energy Park of La Rábida (Huelva).
The scope of the contract awarded to Montrel comprises the integral development of the electrical installation of this initial phase of the project. The works include the supply and installation of conduits, cable laying and connection, installation of grounding systems, switching stations, electrical panels and lighting, as well as the installation of part of the process instrumentation. Likewise, the project includes the installation of instruments and accessories, connection tubing, performance of loop tests, lightning protection systems and power supply panels for instrumentation. The execution of these works will be carried out from Montrel’s Engineering and Installations business line.
This contract reinforces Montrel’s positioning in projects linked to clean energies and emerging technologies, consolidating its presence in a key field for the energy future of Spain and Europe.
The project manager, Miguel Ángel García, indicates that “this award responds to Maetel’s need to have a reliable company, with proven experience in electrical installations and instrumentation and with knowledge of Moeve’s procedures and standards, a client with whom Montrel has maintained a consolidated collaborative relationship for years.”
The Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley will be a benchmark at the European level due to its economic, technological and environmental impact: it envisages the creation of around 10,000 jobs and the attraction of new industrial investments, in addition to a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions (6 million tonnes annually) and the promotion of energy independence.
According to Miguel García, participating directly in a green hydrogen project of this magnitude “represents a relevant step in our involvement in energy innovation initiatives at a European scale, aligned with the transition towards a more sustainable industrial model.”
