Montrel continues to advance its sustainability and environmental compliance strategy by achieving three significant milestones that reinforce its commitment to responsible business management and adherence to current environmental regulations.
The first of these developments has been the annual electronic reporting to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) regarding the industrial packaging placed on the market by the company during 2025. This declaration was submitted correctly and on time during the first quarter of the year, in accordance with Royal Decree 1055/2022 on packaging and packaging waste. This requirement has only recently become applicable to Montrel, as a producer within its activity of supplying low-voltage electrical assemblies, representing a further step in the traceability and environmental responsibility of the materials used by the company.
Secondly, Montrel has completed its registration this week as a waste producer in the province of Huelva. This procedure will ensure the proper management of all waste generated by the company’s activities, both hazardous and non-hazardous. This registration will facilitate the transfer of waste to authorized waste managers, both in the new facility and at project sites where Montrel operates in the province. The registration complies with the provisions of Law 7/2022 on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy, which strengthens the legal framework for more efficient and responsible waste management.
Montrel’s Systems division has reduced its carbon footprint (Scope 1 + 2) by more than 80% compared to the previous year, mainly thanks to the switch to electricity suppliers with a zero emission factor.
The third key milestone relates to the analysis of 2025 data for calculating the company’s carbon footprint. The results show a very significant improvement: Montrel’s Systems division has reduced its carbon footprint (Scope 1 + 2) by more than 80% compared to the previous year, measured in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. This reduction is mainly due to the switch to electricity suppliers with a zero emission factor—a strategic decision, as the majority of emissions associated with this activity stem from electricity consumption.
With these initiatives, Montrel reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, continuous improvement, and compliance with environmental regulations, integrating environmental responsibility criteria into the development of its activities and the management of its operations.
