Montrel has formalized a new contract for the development and implementation of an automated system at the water pumping station of the Los Frailes mine, in Seville. This project is part of the process of reactivating mining activity in the Aznalcóllar area, one of the strategic enclaves of the mining sector in Spain.
The scope of the contract includes the full automation of a process that until now was carried out with direct and continuous intervention from MLF operators. Specifically, Montrel will carry out the electrical installation, system instrumentation, and the development of the necessary software for controlling the pumping process, whose main objective is to avoid the on-site presence of operators, prevent installation failures, control flow rates and consumption, and ultimately optimize the management of water pumping.
The designed solution will not only eliminate risks associated with human error, but also provide the installation with advanced monitoring and control capabilities. The system will incorporate tools for real-time monitoring, remote access to process information, and operational parameterization through digital interfaces, thereby facilitating both decision-making and maintenance tasks.

According to Manuel Ramírez, project manager, “this contract represents a significant step for Montrel in its strategy to consolidate its position within the field of industrial automation applied to the mining sector, an environment that requires high standards of reliability, safety, and efficiency. Participation in a project linked to the reopening of the Aznalcóllar mine also reinforces the company’s presence in high-impact industrial initiatives in southern Spain.”
The reactivation of Aznalcóllar represents a milestone for the national mining industry, not only because of its economic potential, but also due to the opportunity to incorporate advanced technologies that ensure safer and more sustainable operations. In this context, solutions such as the one developed by Montrel contribute to modernizing key infrastructures, aligning with sector trends toward digitalization and intelligent process control.
With this new contract, Montrel continues to expand its portfolio of projects in complex industrial environments, consolidating its experience in automation, control, and digitalization. The company thus reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and its capacity to deliver high value-added solutions in strategic projects, strengthening its positioning as a reference technological partner in the industrial field.
