Montrel accompanies Moeve in the digitalization of the truck loading process in its asphalt plants

Montrel has delivered a pilot digitalization for Moeve’s asphalt plant in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). The goal is to optimize loading and unloading, save time, and cut errors.

Trucks handle asphalt products and follow a long workflow: paperwork, weighing before and after loading, and other steps. Until now, this was manual and could take hours.

With Montrel’s turnkey solution, the process is digital. Repetitive tasks are automated, paperwork is eliminated, and errors drop.

Touchscreen terminals are installed at entry/exit and loading islands. Drivers scan a QR code to identify themselves and complete procedures quickly. All documents go to a manager integrated with Moeve’s SAP ERP and are emailed to the client and the driver.

Touchscreen terminals have been installed so that drivers can carry out all their operations quickly and digitally.

As a novelty, carriers can book a time slot to carry out their operations. Another innovation is that the system includes license plate recognition of the truck and the tractor unit, which must match the information provided by the QR. This is therefore a double authentication factor to avoid errors in transport vehicles.

Anastasio Delgado, Digitalization Director at Montrel, explains that “it is a very robust system, quite intuitive and user-friendly.” The company is the sole contractor in this project and, in addition to building the facilities, has provided the hardware system, wiring, fiber optics, license plate reading system, cabinets housing the electrical supply and equipment communications. It has also provided Moeve’s corporate software, which is fully developed and maintained by Montrel.

This prototype has started at the Alcalá de Henares plant, but it will be installed in all asphalt plants that Moeve has in Spain. It has recently been implemented in Gijón, and it is planned to be extended soon to the rest of the plants on the peninsula, Tarragona and Valencia.

This project is important for Montrel because “it opens a path to undertake the digitalization of other Moeve plants,” as Anastasio Delgado indicates.
