Terminal automation systems have been a key focus of Montrel’s collaboration with Decal España since 2004. The company has developed and modernized loading, control, and automation systems for Decal’s storage terminals handling petroleum products, chemicals, and biofuels.
OUR WORK
At the Barcelona terminal, Montrel designed and deployed the automatic truck loading system, including biodiesel blending, manufacture of EEx d enclosures, island remodeling, and control room renewal. The terminal can load up to 12 trucks simultaneously with 445,000 m³ of storage capacity.
At Palos de la Frontera, Montrel supported the expansion of storage capacity (600,000 m³), designed and installed the new rail loading terminal, electrical and instrumentation systems, and implemented process control for methyl ester loading. Automation was migrated to a 32-bit relational database platform, and new gasoline 95 blending equipment was integrated.
Montrel implemented a modular Plant Loading and Control Automation System at both plants, integrating communications, data management, interlocks, and SCADA visualization. Field devices included Rotork and Limitorque valves, Saab and Enraf tank systems, all under ATEX compliance.
