LNG Truck Loading Terminals for Quintero (Chile)

GNL Quintero is Latin America’s first LNG reception, storage, and regasification terminal. It is now the world’s leading LNG truck loading facility and Chile’s main gas supply source for the central region.

OUR WORK

Montrel contributed in two phases:

  • 2010: implementation of the initial cryogenic truck loading terminal, with two loading bays and a full control system.
  • 2013–2015: expansion with two additional bays, electrical and instrumentation engineering for a third vaporizer, and reinforcement of the control system.

Scope included basic and detailed engineering, supply of two skids with flow control valves, software extensions for process management, and integration of administrative documentation. Engineering also covered electrical systems, interlocks, and fire/gas/cryo detection.

The expansion was executed without interrupting operations. By 2013, GNL Quintero reached 10,000 trucks loaded; by 2015, capacity doubled with four bays; by 2018, over 50,000 trucks had been loaded.
