1963
Year of Montrel’s foundation and execution of the first major project: the complete electrical installation of Europe’s largest butane filling plant in Seville.
1970s
Our commitment to complex projects positioned us as a niche provider specialized in top-level electrical installations.
1971
Electrical installation of the Rehabilitation, Traumatology and Burns Center at Virgen del Rocío Health City, which became a pilot model later implemented in other hospitals across Spain.
1977
We established the first communications hub with Africa by installing a power supply line for Telefónica’s repeater station on Tética de Bacares peak in Almería.
1980s
We carried out pioneering national projects and undertook our first large international contracts. The Systems business line was created, based on PLC and SCADA technology.
1980
Automation and general control of the Rota-Zaragoza pipeline, one of Europe’s main fuel distribution pipelines.
1981
Electrical installation and lighting of the Real Betis Balompié and Sevilla F.C. stadiums, adapted to international standards for the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain.
Design and execution of the Guadalquivir River beacons and automatic radio transmission system for monitoring their status —a pioneering project nationwide, powered by photovoltaic solar energy.
1985
We expanded abroad by automating the tanker truck loading bay at Repsol’s refinery in Sines (Portugal).
1988
Design of the bioclimatic control system in open spaces at the Isla de la Cartuja site, as well as the complete electrical installation of several landmark pavilions.
1990s
We grew in integrated and automated tanker truck loading/unloading projects and consolidated our position as a leading supplier for REE and other major energy and industrial operators.
1990
Engineering development for remote-control frontier racks.
1995
Creation of integral automatic fuel loading systems for tanker trucks, implemented at Continental Oil (Gijón), Esergui (Bilbao), and Capesa (Huelva).
1996
Design and installation of the automated loading bay, associated control software, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) at La Pampilla (Peru).
1999
Automation, E&I, skid supply, and implementation of the control system for Spain’s first cryogenic LNG tanker truck loading bays for Enagás. The project began at the Cartagena plant, followed by Huelva and Barcelona.
2000s
We boosted our manufacturing line, expanded to Asia (Qatar), and developed new systems for industrial plant automation.
2004
Fully autonomous development of the first protection and control racks for Red Eléctrica de España.
2005
Integration of an autonomous and pioneering vehicle identification system using license plate recognition at Esergui’s Bilbao plant.
2007
First project in Qatar at Mesaieed thermal power plant: manufacturing of 119 Protection, Control, and Measurement Cabinets.
We also digitalized and automated Moeve’s loading center management through the implementation of our corporate system G3C.

Business consolidated in Chile as a regional spearhead, with major LNG projects in Latin America. We also executed the first rail unloading terminal.

Entry into Latin America’s first LNG regasification plant at Quintero terminal.

First mining project: supply of control stations and electrical/instrumentation works for CLC.
2012
First biofuel unloading terminal for both rail and tanker trucks at Repsol’s Puertollano refinery.
Launch of 24/7 systems support services, expanding our offer with uninterrupted technical support for critical systems.
2013
Largest contract for serial manufacturing of LV assemblies in explosive atmospheres (ATEX).
2014
Design, supply, and installation of LNG loading bay for Naturgy in Puerto Rico.
2015-2020
New technological developments and patents positioned us as an innovative provider. We established a subsidiary in Peru. Borja Víu assumed leadership as the new CEO. First system for aviation.
2015
Expansion of the Quintero LNG terminal: installation of a new vaporizer and two new loading bays. Currently loading over 10,000 tankers per year—the largest worldwide.
2016
Development of the R&D+i patent SIMAC-ICOMPP with Exolum for automatic compartment identification. It is now installed across all Exolum terminals in Spain and more than 4,000 tankers.
Design, supply, and installation of the LNG loading bay for Peru LNG, South America’s first liquefaction terminal.
Upgrade of the pioneering autonomous vehicle identification system with innovative technology.
2017
REE entrusted us in Peru with protection and control cabinets, auxiliary service panels, and centralization boxes for its transmission networks.
Design and installation of a pilot project for industrial gas loading control in trucks at Air Liquide’s Cabanillas plant.
2018
Borja Víu appointed as new CEO.
Registration of R&D+i patent SIMAC-TGD with Moeve.
2019
Opening of subsidiary Montrel Andina in Peru.
Development and implementation for Moeve of the GAVPlus Aviation Management System for airports.
2020-2025
We developed new technological products that optimize our clients’ processes, such as automatic tanker identification, e-delivery notes, and predictive algorithms.
2021
Upgrade of the technology for automatic tanker identification, installing license plate readers to replace RFID technology, which until then had been standardized in Enagás regasification plants in Barcelona, Cartagena, and Huelva.
Creation of the e-delivery note software. Implemented at Galp.
Optimization of refinery access using predictive algorithms for Repsol in Peru.
First contracts in the electric mobility sector. Framework agreements with Endesa X.
Automatic hydrogen loading control for Air Liquide.
2022
First contract in the African continent. Manufacturing and testing of 180 control cabinets (RTU) in different configurations and 225 telecommunications boxes for Egypt.

60th anniversary. Celebration of our legacy and renewal of our business vision: new direction, same essence.
Complete upgrade of the loading bay for Repsol’s refinery in Peru, including hardware (office and field) and software, increasing process ergonomics and enhancing operational safety.
Expansion of the LNG tanker loading bay in Melchorita for Peru LNG.
