Certified Safety in Explosive Environments: ATEX Testing and Compliance

At Montrel, we specialize in ATEX testing and certification of flameproof enclosures.
Our testing systems comply with the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.
This directive defines strict safety rules for all equipment.
Each enclosure ensures maximum safety in explosive environments.
It also guarantees long-term reliability in operation.
We apply precision engineering to every product.
Strict quality control supports each stage of production.
This helps industries meet the highest Ex d safety standards.

At Montrel, we guarantee the highest level of safety for our flameproof enclosures through a rigorous verification process by the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

We operate a state-of-the-art test bench, designed and developed by our R&D team, located in a secure area within our production plant. This fully automated system enables internal overpressure tests using nitrogen, in compliance with EN 60079, ensuring that each unit is safe to operate in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The bench enables the simultaneous testing of two EJB/EJW enclosures, with pre-set pressures adjusted to high precision between 11.7 and 14.4 bar, and maintained for a minimum of 20 continuous seconds across all units.

👉 This testing time, exceeding the previous standard, guarantees greater reliability and consistency in every test.

Since the launch of the research project for this test bench, we have achieved key results, including the detection of defects in third-party materials and design or resistance failures. This has significantly contributed to improving safety in Spanish industrial facilities under the Ex d flameproof protection mode, and to ensuring strict compliance with ATEX regulations.

The EU Type Examination Certificate supports our accreditation as an ATEX manufacturer No. LOM 03ATEX2127 X, authorising us to manufacture EJ… type electrical switchgear enclosures with Ex d (ia/ib) protection.

Additionally, our quality system is periodically audited by a Notified Body under Module E of the ATEX Directive, with the Product Quality Assurance Notification Number. LOM 04ATEX9004, currently in its 8th edition.
